Stop buying hate.
It's not the Met Police's responsibility to protect the public from the intentional lies of the British media. It's yours.
Shame on any company who, through their advertising spend, exploits the vile, base stupidity of the public who read these grotesque rags to sell their grotty wares… and shame on those of us who buy from these companies too.
How often will the Metropolitan Police have to cite the Mail’s lies for advertisers to back off? How many lives need to be ruined in the pursuit of ad-clicks?
This manifestly unjustifiable propagation of hatred for profit exemplifies why our system of advertising-funded media is utterly broken.
It doesn’t matter if Google’s YouTube caused riots in Germany in 2018 or Facebook fuelled a genocide in Myanmar in 2017 or the Daily Mail misrepresents the empathy for civilians dying abroad to foment fear and hatred at home …
… make no mistake:
These are advertising companies first.
Hatred is just fuel for the revenue pump.
… and you - when your organisation advertises on Google or YouTube or Facebook, Instagram or - God forbid - the Daily Mail … you are paying to pump harm, fear, anxiety, anger and hatred into the soft, supple minds of millions of your neighbours.
… and if all you do is sit and watch, read or contribute to these platforms … well you’re no better than John Lewis in this.
You are the reason this grotty marketplace for hatred thrives in the first place.
Muck will not stop spreading while it’s economically beneficial to spread it… and if we can’t regulate against it — you and I have to be stronger in resisting its lure.
In the end, if you want the world to be a better place - you must stop buying hate.
